We all know that an accident can happen in the blink of an eye. Like it did for 16-year-old Shawinigan native Baptiste.
Baptiste got caught in a major fire. His body was engulfed in flames, and he inhaled a near-fatal amount of smoke.
He was rushed to the hospital in Trois-Rivières in critical condition. The doctors made arrangements for his immediate transfer to Sainte-Justine, Quebec’s leading authority in urgent, trauma and intensive pediatric care.
Baptiste, 16: the epitome of resilience.
Baptiste had sustained third-degree burns to 45% of his body. He was kept in a medically induced coma for two months and received seven skin grafts, along with a big dose of hope through the lights on the majestic Tree outside Sainte-Justine
With the support of people like you, Baptiste has had to learn to sit, walk and eat all over again. He has been marked for life by the experience — and by your generosity.
Every bulb you make twinkle on the Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights will bring comfort to those who need it most, giving them access to talented professionals and leading-edge infrastructure right here in Quebec.
As the magic of the season fills homes across the province, thank you for helping thousands of twinkling beacons of hope shine — and for helping young patients like Baptiste get back on their feet like the champions they truly are.
