Pursuant to section 220 of the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services (in French only), the council of nurses, in accordance with the by-laws of the institution and for each centre operated by the institution, is accountable to the board of directors for:

assessing, generally, the quality of the nursing acts performed in the centre and, where applicable, in cooperation with the council of physicians, dentists and pharmacists, the quality of the activities referred to in section 36.1 of the Nurses Act (chapter I-8 - in French only) engaged in the centre;

making recommendations on the rules of nursing care applicable to their members in the centre;

making recommendations on the rules governing medical care and the rules governing the use of medicines applicable to their members in the centre;

making recommendations on the proper distribution of care dispensed by their members in the centre;

assuming any other function entrusted to it by the board of directors.
