As in adult cases, at the beginning of last century, anaesthesia was the responsibility of nurses. However, by the middle of the twentieth century, some doctors chose to specialise themselves in this area, which was becoming increasingly complex. Anesthetists, who are now called Anesthesiologist, are specialised physicians that have endeavoured to take this field of medicine to the highest scientific and technical levels. Moreover, Paediatric Anesthesiologists have had to adapt, with hard work and ingenuity, scientific progress made in treating adult patients for their own paediatric and neonatal patients. Today, the CHU Sainte-Justine Anaesthesia Department is proud to have a team of highly competent men and women, who offer quality services to the CHU Sainte-Justine’s mother-infant patients.
The mission of the CHU Sainte-Justine Anaesthesia Department is to provide the hospital’s paediatric, obstetric and gynaecology adults patients with quality anaesthesia services in terms scientific, technical and human levels.
