Our name

Le CHU Sainte-Justine doit son nom non pas à sa fondatrice, mais à sainte Justine, martyre des premiers siècles de l'Église catholique, proclamée protectrice des enfants malades.

Il faut dire cependant que Justine Lacoste-Beaubien tenait elle-même son prénom de cette sainte qui aurait sauvé sa soeur aînée, Marie, d'une grave maladie alors qu'elle était enfant. La famille Lacoste, qui avait demandé l'intercession de sainte Justine, avait alors promis de donner ce prénom à leur prochaine fille.

Mentionnons également que plusieurs des fondatrices ont étudié au couvent des soeurs des Saints-Noms-de-Jésus-et-de-Marie où, en 1908, ont été transférées les reliques de la sainte.
