CHU Sainte-Justine is the largest mother and child centre in Canada and one of the four most important pediatric centres in North America. Our team of 5000 support staff and 500 doctors, dentists and pharmacists carry out their work in an environment that is both highly innovative and respectful of individuals. Here knowledge is generated and transferred on a daily basis and we place our patients and their families at the heart of our practice. Affiliated with the Université de Montréal, CHU Sainte-Justine is the largest pediatric teaching centre in Quebec and amongst the top in Canada. We educate more than 4000 students and interns every year.
CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre is composed of more than 200 researchers. We are recognized for our leadership, particularly in the areas of brain disease, musculoskeletal diseases and movement science, fetomaternal and neonatal disorders, metabolic health, viral diseases, immune disorders, cancer, and for the advancement of health.
We were created over a 100 years ago by Justine Lacoste-Beaubien who was a prominent figure in the business community. She believed that children in Quebec were not receiving quality medical care in general hospitals and wanted to create one where their needs were met.
In 2007, CHU Sainte-Justine was accredited by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a "Health Promoting Hospital". We are also a member of the Université de Montréal's extensive network of excellence in health: Réseau Universitaire Intégré de Santé de l'Université de Montréal (RUIS). We have integrated research and education into our hospital settings to ensure a synergetic approach to excellence in patient care, research and teaching.
