Humanitarian Area

Missions are organized to increase mother and child health in developing countries. To this effect, CHU Sainte-Justine's commitment to Haiti has been going on for a few years and is very important.

Since the earthquake on January 12, 2010, the globally recognized Adoption and International Health Clinic at CHU Sainte-Justine has taken on the follow-up care of children who were adopted from Haiti.

More recently, an important partnership was signed and we launched the Integrated Health Program for Haiti under the supervision of the Canadian Red Cross and in collaboration with the International Health Unit at the Université de Montréal and the Public Health Department of the Montréal Health and Social Services Agency.

Under this program, CHU Sainte-Justine will assist in the reconstruction of the health infrastructure in the south-east region of Haiti and will offer institutional support and capacity reinforcement for health professionals of these institutions; this will be done in order to increase access and use of quality healthcare for mothers and children.

CHU Sainte-Justine's professionals have been involved in various humanitarian missions for many years in several African countries. A seminar has been organized for the last four years (Lucille-Teasdale day) in order to review all humanitarian actions undertaken by our organization during the previous year.

Les missions humanitaires ne sauraient toutefois être possibles sans le financement nécessaire qui, autant que possible, provient de missions internationales à caractère commercial.
