Mechanisms of neural circuits development and maintenance

Scientific Conference

Friday 16 January 2015 from 12:00 at 13:00

Claire Bénard, PhD

  • Assistant Professor, Department of Neurobiology, University of Massachusetts-Medical School

Dr. Bénard is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Her research interests are focused on the development and maintenance of neural architecture. Using the model organism C. elegans, she aims to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying axon guidance, as well as those ensuring the maintenance of neuronal circuits in the face of subsequent growth and locomotion. Her research team has identified evolutionarily conserved proteins that modulate signals that guide migrating axons during nervous system development, and conserved proteins dedicated to maintaining neural architecture.
