Montreal Epigenetics Seminar Series - Nathalie Bérubé

Tracking the impact of chromatin dysregulation on brain development and memory processes

  • Nathalie Bérubé, PhD
    • Scientist, Children’s Health Research Institute
    • Professor, Department of Paediatrics, Western University

Chromatin remodeling factors use energy from ATP hydrolysis to shape the chromatin landscape by moving, removing, destabilizing, and replacing nucleosomes. In this talk, I will focus on the ATRX chromatin remodeler that has been linked to intellectual disability and autism.  I will highlight how conditional loss of function approaches in mice have revealed key epigenetic functions of ATRX in DNA replication and gene regulation, affecting the developing brain as well as memory processes in adult mice.
