Scientific Conference of Friday Noon - Aparna Suvrathan

Encoding heterogeneous memories in the cerebellum: from behavior to synaptic mechanisms

Friday 1 October 2021 from 12:00 at 13:00

Aparna Suvrathan, PhD

  • Assistant Professor, Centre for Research in Neuroscience, Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Department of Pediatrics, McGill University, Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre

The cerebellum is a region of the brain that supports diverse forms of behavioral learning. How does the apparently uniform neural circuit architecture of the cerebellum encode this diversity? Our previous research has demonstrated synaptic “plasticity rules” that are heterogeneous across the cerebellum in a way that precisely supports behavioral function. Our current research investigates what kinds of intracellular and circuit-level mechanisms underlie these rules for plasticity.
