The Society for Arts and Technology and the CHU Sainte-Justine form a special partnership to improve the health of mothers and children of Quebec

Montreal, September 2nd, 2010 - For the first time ever, a health care establishment and an arts and technology organization come together in partnership to develop joint projects. The CHU Sainte-Justine and the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) signed a partnership agreement to carry out projects that will unite the world of arts and the field of health. Care, education, research, innovation, and humanization will be key components in all initiatives created and carried out by the two organizations. This unique partnership will also incorporate aspects related to family and children’s entertainment, knowledge-sharing, health promotion, and quality of life.

This innovative proposal is the result of a meeting between Monique Savoie, Founding President of the SAT, and Dr. Fabrice Brunet, CEO of the CHU Sainte-Justine. They both share the common desire to work together on arts and technology research and development projects that apply to health care and to harness the creativity inherent in both fields.

"I commend Dr. Brunet for his boldness in opening the door to this partnership, which will unite the fields of arts and technology and medical science to develop leading-edge projects for the well-being of our children," said Monique Savoie at the signing of the partnership agreement. "This partnership will undoubtedly enable researchers, clinicians, and educators of the CHUSJ to offer the most advance care for mothers, children, and teenagers of Quebec," added Dr. Brunet.

This alliance, initiated by these two institutions of excellence, responds perfectly to the vision of the 2007-2017 Action Plan Montréal – Cultural Metropolis whose mission is to develop creative and innovative projects that promote Montreal as a cultural metropolis of international standing.

In September, a meeting will be held by the working committee to determine and map out the projects to be developed in the first year.
