The Sainte-Justine UHC and the IBN Sina UHC in Rabat, Morocco, come together to improve the health of mothers and children

Montreal, September 15th, 2011 - Yesterday, a partnership agreement was signed by the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre and the IBN Sina University Hospital Centre of Rabat, Morocco. This four-year partnership, created on both organization’s desire to combine synergies, consists in working together to improve the health of mothers and children through care, research, education, management, health promotion, rehabilitation, and technology assessment. This new collaboration model will also serve to find innovative solutions in relation to the issues and challenges of each organization’s respective health care system. The signing of this partnership is an initiative of the Réseau mère-enfant de la Francophonie (RMEF), a network composed of 20 university hospital centres of four continents, and which the CHU Sainte-Justine has been presiding since its creation in 2002.

A delegation from the Rabat Children’s Hospital on a study mission to Montreal, representing the IBN Sina UHC and the signing of the agreement, is a result of the twinning convention signed by both institutions in 2005, and whose objective was to establish a bilateral association aimed at capacity-building to improve the health of mothers and children.

The signing of the agreement took place before Dr. Yves Bolduc, Quebec Minister of Health and Social Services, Pascale Mongrain, Deputy Executive Assistant (MSSS), Zoubair Hakam, Consul General of Morocco, Abdallah Ouhi, Vice Consul General of Morocco, Dr. Linda Alami, Executive Member of the IBN Sina UHC of Rabat, Dr. Fabrice Brunet, Chief Executive Officer of the CHU Sainte-Justine, and other representatives of the CHU Sainte-Justine.
