Total of $3 million raised by Le Mois des Câlins over the past decade to benefit the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation

Ten years of love for the children of Sainte-Justine

Montreal, February 16, 2016Thanks to the continued generosity of the public and campaign partners Rythme FM, Jean Coutu and Clarins, the 10th annual Mois des Câlins de Sainte-Justine raised a record $400,780, putting the total proceeds generated by the initiative since 2007 past the $3-million mark. With even more Quebecers stepping up and responding to this heartfelt appeal during this milestone year, the children and families of Sainte-Justine are feeling the embrace of these “pink hugs” more strongly than ever. The 30,000 units of the limited-edition Clarins “Rose Câlins” Lip Perfector created especially for the campaign were snapped up in no time from the shelves of 345 Jean Coutu stores across the province.

“People have been steadfast in their support in the last 10 years, as have our valued partners, Rythme FM, Jean Coutu and Clarins, to whom we owe a sincere debt of gratitude. The proceeds have gone to several major undertakings that are making a direct and concrete difference in the lives of our young patients,” said Maud Cohen, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. “This year, for the fourth year in a row, the funds raised will be earmarked for CHU Sainte-Justine’s Integrated Centre for Child Neurodevelopment (CIRENE).”

“Jean Coutu and Clarins have been proud to join forces and show how much we care for children by helping to make sure the Sainte-Justine community has access to premium-quality healthcare that ranks among the best in the world. If the campaign’s decade-long success, due in no small part to our outstanding partner Rythme FM, is any indication, we are confident and hopeful that Le Mois des Câlins will continue be around for many years to come,” indicated both Hélène Bisson, Vice President, Communications, The Jean Coutu Group, and Danielle La Roche, National Public Relations Director, Clarins Canada, when these spectacular results were announced live today on the Mitsou & Sébastien noontime program on Rythme FM.

A hug-filled promo tour

Our big-hearted team of “Hug Fairies” from Rythme FM toured 11 Jean Coutu stores in Quebec between February 2 and 11, 2016, to spread the word about the campaign. Their energy and enthusiasm, coupled with the warm welcome provided by in-store cosmeticians, undoubtedly played a significant role in this tremendous success.

Drawing contest

The third edition of the Dessine-moi un câlin contest is about to wrap up for another year. Budding artists aged 5 to 12 from throughout the province have until February 19 to share their vision of the “Draw a Hug” theme with us. The winner will receive $1,000 from Toys“R”Us and have their illustration featured on the 2017 box of Clarins “Rose Câlins” Lip Perfector, in support of Le Mois des Câlins de Sainte-Justine. Full contest details and rules are available in French at calins.ca.
