"Le Mois des Câlins" celebrates 10 years of love and support for the children of Sainte-Justine

Goal for 2016: Reach $3 M!

Montreal, Wednesday, January 27th, 2016 – In celebration of the 10th anniversary of “Le mois des Câlins” (Hug Month), the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, in collaboration with Rythme FM, Jean Coutu and Clarins, invites Quebecers to show how much they care about the children of CHU Sainte-Justine by purchasing a Clarins “Rose Câlins” Lip Perfector, the perfect gift for yourself or someone you love. This special color, created for this cause, is available in a limited quantity of 30 000 units, and is sold exclusively throughout the 345 Jean Coutu stores in Quebec.

An objective of $3 M for the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this event, we are targeting a milestone of $3 M in total funds raised. Over the years, we have been able to support a decade's worth of projects in service of the healing of thousands of children at Sainte-Justine.  For each item sold at $20, Clarins and Jean Coutu will give back $10 to the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation.

A talented young girl contributes to the cause

The 2016 campaign launch also unveiled the new packaging designed by the talented Maria, an nine-year-old student from a Thetford Mines school who participated in the contest. She won the “Dessine-moi un câlin” (draw a hug) contest, the third edition of which is taking place until February 19th. For more information, visit calins.ca.

A heartfelt promo tour of Jean Coutu stores in Quebec

From February 2nd to 11th, 2016, a team of “Hug Fairies” and Rythme FM radio hosts, including Mitsou, Sébastien Benoit, Jean-François Baril, Saskia Thuot, Julie Bélanger and Mario Lirette, will be touring the province’s Jean Coutu stores to promote the campaign. “It warms my heart to see the public remain so loyal to the cause over the last ten years. It shows the deep compassion the people of Quebec have for the children at Sainte-Justine and how much they want to help. No matter how many more units were produced this year, the products always sell out very quickly, sometimes even before Valentine’s Day,” said Mitsou during the Mitsou & Sébastien show covering the launch. The tour will make stops in Montreal, Boucherville, Longueuil, Laval, Val-d'Or, Rouyn-Noranda, Gatineau, Trois-Rivières, Saint-Sauveur, Sherbrooke and Saguenay.

A promising project of hope for thousands of families in Québec

For the fourth consecutive year, the funds collected during the “Mois des Câlins” will go toward the CHU Sainte-Justine’s Integrated Centre for Child Neurodevelopment (CIRENE), directed by neurologist Dr. Lionel Carmant. Unique in North America, it is the world’s first such centre to gather researchers and health professionals of various disciplines under one roof.

In the last ten years, the money raised by the “Mois des Câlins de Sainte-Justine” has also helped fund a skin-to-skin contact project, set up a hybrid operating room for pediatric cardiac surgery, acquire a 3D mapping system and conduct an extensive research project on pediatric cancer survivors.

More good news: this year, from January 25th to February 25th, 2016, $1 from every 7 Jours magazine sold in Jean Coutu stores in Quebec will go to the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation.
