Esophageal atresia is a congenital anomaly where the oesophagus is not continuous. Infants born with this anomaly are operated within their first days of life.
The Esophageal Atresia Clinic was created for these patients and includes the services of various specialists (gastroenterologist, pneumologist, surgeons, paediatricians) and a nurse.
During the infant’s visit, in turn, each specialist evaluates his/her health condition. Through this clinic’s services, the infant and his/her family can benefit from the expertise of each specialist, all within the same day. If needed, tests are performed during the day. After the doctors discuss the case, a treatment plan for the infant is setup, according to his/her needs and those of the family.
Our multidisciplinary team members are therefore able to exchange important information with the family in order to give the infant the best possible care.
