Fetal medicine is a branch of maternal-fetal medicine that specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of various fetal pathologies and complications.

Our interdisciplinary team brings together specialists in fetal medicine, genetics, radiology, and pediatric specialties. They are committed to providing comprehensive and personalized care.

Assessment and management of complications

Issues that arise can include, for example, growth restrictions, birth defects, heart rhythm disturbances, infections, or complications in twin pregnancies.


List of fetal complications assessed and managed by our team

  • Complicated twin pregnancies
    • Complicated monochorionic pregnancies
      • Twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and twin anemia polycythemia sequence (TAPS)
      • Selective growth restriction
      • Twin reversed arterial perfusion sequence (TRAP)
      • Discordant anomalies (when one of the twins has a fetal abnormality)
      • Death of a twin
      • Monoamniotic twins
    • Triplets, quadruplets and other multiples
  • Fetal anemia
  • Fetal heart rhythm disorders
  • Birth defects
    • Cardiovascular system
    • Pulmonary system, such as congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM), diaphragmatic hernia, and bronchopulmonary sequestration
    • Digestive system, such as gastroschisis and omphalocele
    • Urinary system, such as megabladder  and hydronephrosis
    • Musculoskeletal system
    • Central nervous system, such as spina bifida
  • Hydrops
  • Fetal infections
  • Tumors
  • Amniotic band syndrome
  • Intrauterine growth restriction
