Our services
The GAMI clinic (clinique de suivi de grossesse avec maladies infectieuses) provides care and services to pregnant women who have been in contact with infectious agents and are at risk of having an infection OR are living with a confirmed infectious disease.
The clinic follows patients who may be dealing with many different pathologies, including HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, CMV, Zika, toxoplasmosis, and parvovirus.
Having an infectious disease during pregnancy can affect the course and duration of pregnancy, but can also influence the care required during and after delivery for both the mother and the newborn.
The health professionals in the Pregnancy with Infectious Diseases Clinic have extensive expertise with pregnancy and infectious diseases and provide a wide range of services that cover prevention, personalized education to meet the needs of the clientele and the family, screening or prenatal diagnosis, gynecological monitoring, and treatment during or after delivery.
Even in 2017, people living with HIV still often fear being rejected. It is sometimes very scary to meet new health professionals and tell them our story. At the GAMI clinic, however, we are welcomed and made to feel at home, we feel heard and supported. Their presence really makes a difference.
