Diabetes
The CHU Sainte-Justine Diabetes Clinic includes a multidisciplinary team which provides ultra-specialised care to patients aged 0 - 18 affected by type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The Diabetes Clinic provides medical monitoring for diabetes in young people and adolescents, by monitoring and adjusting insulin doses between visits (5 clinics per week).
The clinic also offers:
- A 24-hour hotline for emergency situations and for clinic patients;
- A consultation service for diabetic patients monitored outside the clinic;
- Supervision of diabetes-related complications and other medical conditions;
- A consultation service for hospitalised patients for all medicine, surgery and neonatology programs;
- An educational program of diabetic patients accredited by the “Association des diabétiques du Québec”, including an educational program for newly-diagnosed diabetic patients and their families;
- A training program on the insulin subcutaneous pump;
- A day centre specialised in diabetes where all the training is provided. Also, this day centre enables newly-diagnosed patients to avoid hospitalisation.
The clinic is also a provincial reference centre for physicians located in regions.
