Before registering, we invite you to carefully read the Volunteer Profile and the steps in place. You can then fill out the registration form.

The Volunteering Service shares the vision and values of CHU Sainte-Justine. This vision consists in “a university hospital network that integrates the highest level of care and services, a commitment to the children and families, striving for excellence, respect for the individual and team work.”

Volunteers must therefore act professionally, ethically and responsibly in their interventions, as do all hospital employees.

Mandatory steps for becoming a volunteer

  1. Fill out the registration form
  2. Attend the information session
  3. Participate in the information session : the dates will be given at the information session
  4. Provide a reference letter (required)

Subsequent steps will be specified during the training session.

Volunteer Profile

Age requirement
Must be 18 or over.

Applicants must have a minimum of experience with children. This could include parental or family experience, or experience as a monitor, babysitter, teacher, etc.

CHUSJ is a French institution, but clients sometimes express themselves in a different language. Volunteers must be able to speak French in an understandable way. Fluency in another language an asset.

Volunteers must commit to a minimum of three consecutive hours per week for a period of six months, with possibility of extension following probation. On the registration form, you are asked to specify your interests and availability. New volunteers must sign an engagement agreement.

Empathetic, welcoming, respectful, independent, discrete and punctual, and ability to work as part of a team.

Volunteers must be in optimal physical and mental health.

Background check
A background check will be performed.
