Procedure, operation or surgery performed by a specialized medical and clinical team in a sterile environment.


Clear, translucent, particle-free fluids, such as clear, filtered apple juice, clear sports drinks, oral rehydration solutions (Pedialyte®), water, carbonated water, tea, herbal tea and coffee (with sugar, without milk).


Doctor in training to become a specialist.


Team consisting of a pediatric anesthetist, a respiratory therapist and a resident. One of these will stay with the patient during the intervention.

  • Admitting Office
    Team that schedules interventions based on priorities, and contacts families to provide information about fasting and what to expect on the day of the procedure.
  • Day Surgery Unit
    Unit that prepares the patient for day surgery and monitors and manages the patient afterwards
  • Operating Block
    • Preoperative waiting area
      Place where the patient and their companions are taken care of by the Operating Block care team before entering the operating room.
    • Operating room
      Sterile room where procedures take place.
    • Recovery room
      Room where the patient is looked after by a specialized care team during their recovery from anesthesia..
    • Family waiting room in the Operating Block
      Room where parents and companions can wait during the procedure.
