Certain terms used in the health network may be unfamiliar or vague to the uninitiated. This glossary defines the main terms used by the Committee on this site.

- Users’ committee
A users’ committee is a group of members who represent the users’ interests to the institution it serves.
- CHU Sainte-Justine
The Centre hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine is the largest mother-child hospital in Canada. Affiliated with the Université de Montréal, it boasts a world-renowned research centre.
- Users
Patients who receive care at a healthcare institution.
- CRME
Centre de réadaptation Marie-Enfant.
- ARHSSS
Act respecting health services and social services.
- RCPU
Regroupement provincial des comités des usagers (provincial association of users’ committees).
- Users’ rights
Every user of the health services and social services network has rights, and it is the role of the Users’ Committee to ensure they are respected.

- Local service quality and complaints commissioner
The local service quality and complaints commissioner is appointed by the institution pursuant to the ARHSSS to receive and process complaints from users, in a completely independent and impartial manner.
