Pediatric palliative care : Composition of the team

CHU Sainte-Justine’s palliative care central committee brings together members of all hospital programs and management whose mandate is to ensure that all children suffering from potentially life-threatening illnesses receive the care needed for their optimum comfort, that is, physical, psychological, social and spiritual comfort offering them the opportunity to live their life, however short it may be, without pain and suffering and with dignity.

As an advisory team, the palliative care consultation unit’s mission is to assist attending teams in facing the challenges involved in meeting the goals set out by the central committee.

  • Mr Nago Humbert, clinical-administrative manager for the palliative care unit;
  • Dr. France Gauvin, medical manager for the palliative care unit;
  • Dr. Michel Dural and Dr. Monia Marzouki, both hematology/oncology pediatricians, are in charge of teaching;
  • Dr. Antoine Payot, neonatal pediatrician, is responsible for research;
  • Ms. Lysanne Daoust, Ms. Antoinette Petti and Ms. Audrey Stypulkowski all act as clinical nurses
  • Ms. Suzanne Plante is the nurse coordinator for the clinical ethics unit.
