Verbal dyspraxia: Taking the right steps

A medical referral must be forwarded to the speech and language clinic for you to make an appointment with the speech and language department. An administrative officer will call you to identify your child’s profile and check your child’s eligibility requirements.

The number of appointments is not determined ahead of time and will depend on your child’s needs and level of difficulties. Our health care and service offer will be individualized according to your child’s level of difficulties and needs while remaining in line with our mission of specialized and highly specialized assessment centre.

Our speech and language services are not rehabilitation services. There are no long-term monitoring services offered as those specialized services are provided by our rehabilitation partners or through schools.

Reorientation mechanisms for consultation requests

In view of CHU Sainte-Justine’s specialized and highly specialized mission, your request for consultation may be reoriented in cases of mild to moderate delays with no complex neurodevelopmental disorders or stuttering disorders. You will then be provided with specifications as to where to forward your request for consultation among our network partners.

Be assured that the speech and language pathologist is committed to listening and understanding your concerns.
