Résumé
Knowledge translation (KT) is the process of moving knowledge into action to improve health care systems, services and outcomes. KT is inherently a social process that connects people with knowledge, with the primary goal of mobilizing change. Implementation science examines the factors influencing the use of that knowledge. This presentation explores social strategies to mobilize change, and the theories and evidence behind implementing them. Examples from the author’s research in pediatric health care organizations and research institutes, community-based not-for-profit organizations, drug policy, technology adoption for rehabilitation, and clinician-driven knowledge brokering initiatives link the theory to practice. Participants will leave with an awareness of the importance of interpersonal and inter-organizational connections for KT, and a range of strategies to consider for their own contexts.
