    Career Summary

Dr. Jantchou received his medical training at Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse and his pediatric specialization at the CHU de Besançon in France. He then did his fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology in the Pediatric Gastroenterology Unit of the CHU Robert Debré in Paris under Prof. Cezard and then the Gastroenterology Unit of the Hôpital Jeanne de Flandres in Lille, France, under Prof. Turck.

Very early on in his medical training, he became interested in epidemiology by doing a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Actions Evaluation in 2001-2002. During his fellowship in Lille, he collaborated with the research team responsible for the EPIMAD cohort (cohorte épidémiologique sur les maladies inflammatoires intestinales du nord de la France – an epidemiological cohort study on inflammatory bowel diseases in the north of France).

His interest in understanding the incidence of inflammatory bowel diseases and associated risk factors led him to continue his training by working on a science thesis from 2007 to 2010 at INSERM Unit E3N (Villejuif, France) under the supervision of Prof. Carbonnel and Dr. Marie Christine Boutron-Ruault.
